“The public is cordially invited to attend a special piano concert in celebration of Earth Day by distinguished American concert pianist Teresa Walters. The International Steinway Artist performs a Matinée recital at Hallsgrimskirkja on April 23 at 13:00.  Admission is free.

Described by The New York Times as “The International First Lady of Piano,” Teresa Walters is recognized for her shining world view.   She is also known for her commitment to humanitarian causes and her efforts on behalf of the environment and the planet’s wildlife.  During the 2020 global pandemic, she touched the world with her video Music of Hope and Healing and shared a Lakehouse Video Series combining two of her great passions – music and wildlife. 

A noted interpreter of the music of Franz Liszt, Dr. Walters is en route to New York from Paris and Spring concert tour in Europe.  The Hallsgrimskirkja concert will include music from her Celebration of Light Tour in honor of the 800th Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Sun written in 1225.  Her program features Liszt’s grand setting of the Canticle of the Sun and music by other timeless composers. 

Teresa Walters has performed all over the world in concert tours taking her to the world’s most prestigious concert halls and also church, community and university settings.  Performing for European royalty, children’s charities in Delhi, Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall or the International Diplomatic Corps in Copenhagen, she shares her vision of the world’s great music as art, therapy and ministry.  She states: “I look forward to visiting Iceland and the magnificent church of Hallgrimskirkja. It will be an honor to perform in this sacred space in commemoration of Earth Day.”

“International Steinway Artist Teresa Walters performs in the Begijnhof Amsterdam for Holy Week 2025.  The America pianist concertizes extensively in the world’s finest concert halls and university, community and church settings to fulfill her vision of great music as art, therapy and ministry.  Her Amsterdam program at the English Church on April 16 features selections from her 2025 Celebration of Light Tour, honoring the 800th Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Sun written in 1225.  The Washington Post wrote: “Teresa Walters is a splendid musician whose marvelous technical prowess and rich expressive resources create music of intimate introspection, orchestral grandeur, and the most minute inflections of color.”

International tours in recent seasons have included Austria, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, Russia, Japan and Israel.  Other highlights include brilliant debuts in Manila and Hong Kong, performances with the Romanian Brasov Philharmonic, Rachmaninoff performances with orchestras in Russia, a South American debut in Sao Paolo, and the inaugural recital of the International Liszt Cycle for the Liszt-Kodaly Society of Spain. 

Described as “The International First Lady of Piano” by The New York Times, Teresa Walters has performed on 6 continents and 50 United States at venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, Moscow’s Great Hall, Jerusalem’s Concert Hall and Australia’s International Conservatorium.”

Invited by Hungary to perform three prestigious European recitals honoring the Anniversary of Liszt’s birthday, she performed at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, Esterhazy Palace and at Liszt’s Birthplace in Raiding where her performance was televised.  In honor of the Liszt Bicentennial, Copenhagen’s Hungarian Embassy presented Dr. Walters in an all-Liszt gala recital as did Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall.  Her Liszt recordings have received nominations for the Grand Prix du Disque and are hailed by FANFARE magazine as a “formidable display of technical dexterity and red-blooded power.”

Musique et Vie at Salle Gobelins welcomes acclaimed pianist Teresa Walters for April performances and Master Classes in the Latin Quarter.  As a student, she was awarded an International Education Award for a year of study and dissertation research in Paris.  Dr. Walters is recognized for authoring the foremost dissertation on Nadia Boulanger. 

In 2025, the American pianist celebrates Holy Week with her Celebration of Light Tour honoring the 800th Anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s Canticle of the Sun written in 1225.  Enhancing the music will be her remarks to the audience in both French and English with her lauded Keynote Comments. 

Teresa Walters is hailed as “one of the world’s most significant pianists” by Austrian National Television and recognized as one of the world’s foremost interpreters of the music of Franz Liszt.  Her prestigious invitations to perform in honor of the Liszt Bicentennial included Copenhagen’s Hungarian Embassy and Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall.  The Budapest Sun writes: “Her fingers give off sparks and she takes the keyboard into orbit.”  The Washington Post headline reads: “Her Hands Create Cascades of Luminescence.” 

Teresa Walters has performed as a recitalist and orchestral soloist on six continents and in all 50 United States, earning glowing reviews at such venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Moscow’s Great Hall and Vienna’s Beethoven Festival. Her recordings have received nominations for the Grand Prix du Disque of the Hungarian Liszt Society.

The pianist indicates that she holds a special place in her heart for Paris since living here during student years. “In the classic words of Audrey Hepburn,” she says, “Paris is always a good idea!  Paris est toujours une bonne idée.”
