The Japan Times: Kansai Time Out
June 1999

Classical music fans should expect stellar performances by a top-notch pianist coming to Japan this month.  The Liszt Society of Japan, in association with the Kansai American Center will sponsor the brilliant American pianist TERESA WALTERS in  a rare, exclusively all-Liszt recital (the Sonata in B minor and Harmonies poétiques et religieuses, among other pieces, are scheduled, at Ashiya Concert Hall on Sunday afternoon, June 20).  Walters wrote her dissertation on the legendary Parisian conductor and composition instructor, Nadia Boulanger, whom she interviewed during Boulanger's late years.  Walters has received the accolades of the international musical community for her flawless performances.  In fact, the last Mlle. Boulanger, not one apt to give an undeserved compliment, declared that Walters possessed "an abundance of rare gifts: God-given musically and exceptional intelligence" - that's honor enough for a lifetime.  In addition, Walters' prize winning recordings will be on sale before and after the performance.
