Teresa Walters, the highly acclaimed pianist and leading authority on the works of Franz Liszt (1811-1886), has been invited by the Liszt Society Japan to play a selection of the composer's works at Yamamura Hall in Ashiya, at 3 p.m. on June 20.

Walters, who grew up on a farm in the American Midwest, has won a host of music prizes and awards during her career, which began when she was a child.

After obtaining a doctorate from John Hopkins University, she won a scholarship to study under the late French music scholar Nadia Boulander in Paris.  Walters is currently artist-in-residence at the College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, N.J.

Walters' latest CD, on which she plays pieces by Liszt, was nominated for the Hungarian Liszt Society's Grand Prix du Disque.
