Liszt of Very Fine Performances Acclaimed American concert pianist and award winner,
Teresa Walters visits Budapest to perform works by Ferenc Liszt at the
Liszt Music Academy and Memorial Museum on Saturday March 13 at 11am.
During recent concert seasons, Walters has performed in most of the states in America. Future bookings on the international circuit include tours of Australia and Japan. This month, she has been invited to perform the all-Liszt recital at the composer's beloved academy. Last year, Walters' new CD of Liszt's sacred piano music received a nomination for the Grand Prix du Disque, awarded by the Hungarian Liszt Society. She has specialized in recording the late and little-known sacred piano works of Liszt, which he wrote after taking minor Holy Orders in the Catholic Church. Walters who grew up on a farm in the American midwest, has been winning prizes and awards since childhood. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, she received her doctorate from Peabody Conservatory at John Hopkins University and was awarded an international graduate fellowship for a year of study in Paris. Esteemed She studied there with Nadia Boulanger and researched her dissertation on the esteemed French teacher through a series of interviews with Mademoiselle Boulanger before her death. Walters is an official International Steinway Artist. Her solo and orchestral performances have consistently earned the highest praise from the press and the enthusiasm of audiences worldwide. She has received rave reviews from the New York Times, the London Times, the Jerusalem Post and Soviet Woman. Following her New York debut, which established her as a specialist in interpreting the works of Liszt, The Washington Post critic said "Teresa Walters is a splendid musician whose marvelous technical prowess and rich expressive resources create music of intimate retrospection, orchestral grandeur and the most minute inflections of color." |
